This group is comprised of theee nominal species whose distributions are all restricted to eastern Brazil. E. Carolina stands in distant sister group relationship to constantius and pergaea, being the only members of the clade to possess a well-developed sacculus. The latter two sister species appear to have diverged from one another much more recently, as evidenced by their indistinguishable mtDNA haplotypes and genitalia. The members of this clade possess a relatively short proboscis compared to other Eurybia species. The ration of the proboscis length to body size is roughly 1:1 in this clade.
